Pecking Order.

"Chicks and hens-enemies?
Explain this please!"
The hens attack
lightning fast.
The chick avoid
lightning pecks.
"What's going on?
Please tell me what!"
"The pecking order
needs adjusts."

It's Okay

It's okay if you think
that chickens stink.
It's okay if you think
they don't exist.
It's okay if you believe
they're mean and dumb.
It's okay if you believe
they're little bums.
It's okay if you hate my chickens.
It's okay if you hate them.
Just don't hurt them.

Little Broody Hen.

How does it feel when your little broody hen,
tells you: "Get lost and scram!" again?
What is she doing on that nest?
Sitting down, yet with no rest.
Why does she glare with such hate,
at you, her friend, when you set her plate?
How does it feel when your broody, moody, girl
hisses and snarls at the food you hurl?
She doesn't budge from her spot,
not ever to to drink to ease her hot.
"What has happened to my hen?"
you wonder as she pecks again.
But never fear, this is short lived.
Soon as she hatches her baby chicks,
she'll come to you and make sweet clicks.
Then she'll lead those chicks she raised,
to show them off and get your praise.
So don't you fret, your hen's not sick.
Broodiness is over quick.*
